Yeah, that's because I got tired of my users complaining about the missing smiley, so I ran appcfg.py (rollover then update) over and over again, cleared cache in between, until it began appearing again. Sometimes when I deploy a new version it still returns the error on the same image, and then I redo it until it begins appearing again. Unfortunately the error does not appear in the AppEngine Dashboard Logs so I have no way of knowing what's really going on and giving you proper feedback (and of course it does not happen in the local development.
