I didn't claim that it would be "as fast". I just challenged the discarding of urlfetch as a reasonable mechanism. If they *are* in the same data center, they'll be nearly as fast as each other. Regardless, both mechanisms (direct access or urlfetch) will be staying on Google's network, and so will be very fast, and very likely _fast enough_.
