Are you familiar with Subversion? If you install something like TortoiseSVN for Windows (I assume you are on windows), you can connect directly to the the depot and you will always just get the changed files since the last sync (including a log). If you use that for your "test setup" you can also minimize surprises in a new release, as well as provide timely feedback and bugfixes.
