Dear Ms Google,

I want to take over the "axe" project- it looks abandoned and i have a new
data miner that works by reducing columns, reducing rows, reducing
dimensions, then reducing rules. "Axe" would be a perfect name for that
one.

I looked into your polices and found the following questions:

> 1. How long has the project lay fallow? If less than 6 months, don't be
optimistic about being assigned ownership of the project.

> 2. Is there code in that project? If so, it is much less likely that we
will reassign ownership of that project to you except for the purpose of
continuing development of that code.

I cant tell. axe.googlecode.com does not allow source code access. which in
itself is a funny thing to do in supposedly open source projects

> 3. Is there something "fishy" about the circumstances of the request?
People squat project names much as they do DNS names.

I don't think i'm fishy. I am a pretty active data mining researcher (e.g.
see my at google scholar: http://goo.gl/gOgUB)

> 4. Is the project scheduled for deletion? If so, we'll likely
just give it to you.

over to you on that

> 5. Is the project you wish to take over a spam trap or hosting malware
or simply not open source?

dont think so

> 6. Have you made an effort in good faith to contact the current owners?
What, if anything, did they have to say in reply?

yes. emailed them end of april. no response

> 7. Has one of the original developers died or otherwise dropped
off the grid in some fashion that you can describe to us?

no idea, sorry

> 8. Have you hosted malware, spam or non-open source content on Project
Hosting before? If so, don't be optimistic that we'll cooperate.

nope
