I never read that book, but I heard it is an amazing text written by one of
the best in the field.

If you know programming, use it then. Go ahead and start the practise
questions if you're in for the competition or if you're in for more, find
something interesting to do and see what languages and tools you need to do
that thing then learn the them.

Bottom line is, do NOT read a book just for the pleasure of reading it, that
case is more emphasised with technical books. You're free to do what you
want, it's an amazing book.
