You can also pre-print one-time codes. But if past years are an indication, you'll be able to log on before the start of the contest; and if you are logged out somehow, you'll be able to put up your hand and get permission to get a recovery code from your phone.
I remember a few years ago, when I was still working on Code Jam, somebody left his phone at the hotel with 2-factor on! I think he set up a new gmail account so he could compete.
