I have Picasa 3 on Lenny and it requires 99mb.
I installed it, just adding this entry in my /etc/apt/sources.list
 ' #google
deb http://dl.google.com/linux/deb/ testing non-free
and doind 'aptitude update" and 'aptitude install picasa" .

It should work with 300mb on the partition, expecting you didn't install
anything else in /opt
