Then your friend: a) Doesn't know how to use LR b) Is "LR O.C.D."[1] I've watched folks use every slider in LR on virtually every photograph they PP - that would relate to (b), above. I use LR for 90%+ of my PP ... I use Picasa for those "unimportant, quick-n-dirty" PP jobs, when I only need to fix a JPG/etc. My RAW PP with LR goes just as quickly as my JPG PP using Picasa. The power of LR is its breadth of available tools and the ability it offers to manipulate RAW images.
