Thanks, this seems to deal with fitting the zoom level to a given
marker set. In the case I am dealing with there is only one marker. I
need to figure out how to set the zoom level so that at least one map
feature is shown.

Example try Lat -1.283374 Lon 36.814824 at zoom level 12. Lots of map
features visible.
Now try Lat 1.783052 Lon 39.999806 same zoom level. Not very
informative! Zoom to level 10. We need to zoom out a long way before
we see any geography at all let alone roads. What I need is a smart
zoom that fits the map features available.
