I am sorry to see Google pull the plug on the "mld" image server.
Except for a few bugs in the API, not with the server itself, it
worked across all browsers. Unlike VML / SVG / CANVAS solutions,
images can be cached both locally & at the server. Google's "mapsdt"
image server has the potential to be very useful if colors could be
applied on the fly to generic KML files. Again, tiles can be cached
both locally & at the server.
