Well, in the Mapplets docs there is described how to convert a map
script to a mapplet, but not the other way round. It wouldn't be that
easy that you can do it on the fly, but also not too difficult.

As far as I see the mapplet mainly reads the predefined xml files from
here

So you'll have to know how xml files can be read with Javascript.
Mike's tutorial will also be a good starting point in this case

As soon as you know that you can take the code from the mapplet and
insert it - probably with a few adaptions - into your map script.

I searched for your example mapplet called "Tourfilter Concerts" and
didn't find it. So its probably not in the mapplets directory. Maybe
it will be easier to adapt the code if the mapplet would be available
to see how it looks like in live action.
