yeah just put it in the mapOptions like this:
var myLatlng = new google.maps.LatLng(75, -115);
var myOptions = {
zoom: 3,
center: myLatlng,
backgroundColor: '#f0e0be'
}
var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map"),
myOptions);
...
