Thanks for this Lee, I have been hitting my head the last couple of days over this one. Unfortunately if there is no way around this I must find another service, perhaps Flickr, that doesn't have this size limitation. I need to be able to load the original image directly into my Flash app, not least because Picasa's JPEG compression is of morbidly low quality. Naturally Picasa's scale demands bandwidth conservation where possible, but my site will be very low-volume but demands high quality.
Does anyone know of a way around this limitation, or of a movement to have it removed? Presumably it's just a difference in the header for the full size image, which prompts a download. Of note, the limitation does not effect Firefox (Mac v3.5.1) accessing the image from Flash at least.
