I too use Chrome and Translate (with windows Vista and Vista's New
Phonetic Chinese IME).. With the new translate I cannot type a single
character in Chinese. It looks as if Chrome is trying to submit the
phonetic input before the character is finished.) Please sort this
out.
I did a quick test of the new Translate with Firefox and it seemed to
work fine.
