Every now and then I come across a datasheet in a foreign language that I can't get an English version of. Using Google Translate's Upload Document feature is great but I think it would be even better if the user can specify certain areas in the document that needs translating whilst ignoring the rest.
Datasheets tend to come with graphs, tables and diagrams/images. Some may need translating, some don't. Most of the time, I find that I don't need to translate diagrams as they tend to be showing dimensions as oppose to text. A possible good UI/viewer for this feature would be to have the original uploaded document shown on the left of the screen and the translated text on the right. Users then need only to highlight areas which instantly show the translated text on the right. That way, preserving the layout of the document is not too critical as users can visually identify what/where the text is translated. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "General" group.
