John, I've got a small test case that is always reproducable, though you'll need the ExtGWT library jar file (gxt.jar) as part of the project. I've emailed the eclipse project file to your google email address so I hoping you can use that to reproduce and determine the bug.
Please let me know if there is anything more I can do.
