The anchor widget is just a regular <a href=""> tag so if you use that constructor, clicking on it will open a new browser window. To get an anchor that doesn't do that use the constructor http://google-web-toolkit.googlecode.com/svn/javadoc/1.6/com/google/gwt/user/client/ui/Anchor.html#Anchor(java.lang.String,%20boolean,%20java.lang.String) with "#" as the href.
