Hi Ross,

I have just had a look at the Health Open Ware site. A few things struck me other than the fact the code available there is 17 months and one week old.

1. There seem to be no bugs reported via bugzilla

2. The forums seem devoid (essentially) of content.

How does this situation find bugs etc or don't I understand how to use the site?

Other than escrow of now obviously old code just what benefits is open-source bringing?

Is there a time line for posting current or more recent code?

Cheers

David

As Ian Haywood pointed out, the lag between the open source version of Argus and the current version of Argus makes active contributions by a putative community of users/developers rather difficult, but the availability of fairly recent versions open sourced source is still a very, very important form of escrow. The reality is that ArgusConnect (the company) is only small and like all small companies, it is at risk of going belly-up (as indeed are a lot of larger companies). The availablity of an open sourced version of the software very significantly mitigates this risk i.e. it makes Argus a fairly safe bet despite the small size of the company behind it.
