Screen size is irrelevant - resolution is the limiting factor.
There is no calculation based on video RAM, but how good the firmware
is.
I have Compaqs here that can do 1280 x 1024, which is native on most
17" screens and cheap 19" ones, and Wyse terminals that are limited
to 1024 x 768, so require a 15" to look right.
I haven't seen a thin client that can do a comfortable wide screen
resolution yet.
Refresh rate doesn't apply to LCD screens, it's a CRT thing.
I would suggest using a PC with decent graphics hardware (a fat
client?) if you want to run a large screen. If you need absolute
silence, NEC have some new thin clients with dedicated graphics
hardware but we haven't seen them here yet.
