By "remain unverifiable", do you mean that the signature is bad?

What exactly do you get?

I'm going to send you, OFF LIST, four test messages:
- signed in-line
- signed OpenPGPMIME
- encrypted and signed
- encrypted and signed OpenPGP/MIME

Let's see what happens.
