OK, so this is what I'd do.

- have a minimal number of applications running to avoid having to wade through 
too much dross in the find command below
- make a terminal window
- touch /tmp/x
- change your GPG key passphrase with the gpg command (from the terminal)
- do whatever it is you do to use the GUI: either it will or won't prompt for a 
password, but presumably it will.
- find ~ -newer /tmp/x from the terminal: one of those files is where it is 
stashing the password.
