This is not specific to mtp, but to all synchronization devices. The thing with
"Only synchronize tracks that haven't been played" only work for
synchronization, not for manually transferring episodes. Having a "clue" to
detect already transfered files is a good idea, but must be discussed with
other people.

With my device, connection is fast. I don't have a delay. But you should
normally the syn windows should already appear BEFORE connection and notifying
that the connection is in progress. Maybe the delay is due to something else
before connection. You could have a look at the log to see what could be the
reason.

Unfortunately my device does not support video, I won't be able to help you
with this, sorry.

I plan to manage optional playlist. It will be done earliest after the current
features are committed in gPodder branch. What do you nean with "latest
episodes"?

I think it's out of the scope of gPodder, At least in a close future. You
should try to use a dedicated program like gnomad2. The only think I plan
(after commit) is to add an information windows (free space, batterie level,
device name, firmware version...)

Suggesting ideas is the best way to get open source software evolving :)
A few months ago, I had the dream gPodder would support mtp...
