I've found that a similar thing happens to my 1g nano: Sometimes
podcasts won't be transferred properly and, even though they appear in
the database, aren't playable through the ipod's menu. Deleting the
file from the ipod and then reloading it again seems to fix the issue
most of the time.

Rarely, the entire podcast menu will be blank -- loading gtkpod will
repair the problem.

I've tried to isolate the issues. Loading gtkpod after syncing with
gpodder seems to cause problems, though I'm unsure to what extent.
Ejecting the ipod after syncing with gpodder, then remounting and
using gtkpod seems to be alright.

Also, it seems that no matter what, gtkpod will always consider the
database to be corrupt after gpodder synchronization. (It says the
hashes don't match and then proceeds to rehash everything... I think.)
