On the Maemo version: Tap on the episode (in the "Podcasts" tab), and you will get a menu that has items "Download", "Do not download", "Episode details", etc.. Click on "Do not download" and the episode will not be marked as "new" and not appear in the "New episodes available" dialog. This works (just confirmed) in the 0.12.3 version of gPodder, available in the Maemo Extras repositories for Chinook and Diablo. Hope this help.
