Following further investigation I see I was wrong here (at least partly). Running gpodder (2.16 or 2.18) on Ubuntu 11.04 using the Unity-2D interface I *do* see gpodder minimising to the top panel (if configured in prefs), but when using Unity 3D or either interface on Ubuntu 11.11 it does not minimise to the top panel. I suspect this was a 'feature' of Unity-2D on 11.04 intended to provide backwards compatibility. I also note that the minimise ability seems to have been removed from the tres branch completely, is that correct? It is a bit of a pain not being able to minimise to the panel as it means it must permanently take up valuable real estate on the launcher. Tomboy Notes, for example, does still minimise to the panel. Liferea uses the approach of minimising itself to the messaging menu.
