Is there some reasonably simple way for a non root client to open a
connection to GPSD and be sure it is talking to the real GPSD?
For example, ntpd might want to (re)open a connection after dropping root.
Tldc: No, everything is forgable if you have the resources. Even if you could bless the connection and the gpsd instance, afaik lots of receivers do not report fuzzing the received signals reasonably or at all.
