Can you say something about that GPS receiver?  Make?  Model?  Serail?
USB?  PCIe?  What device driver makes it work?  My mind reading not
working well today.

Usually gpsd can autodetect the PPS.  Run ntpshmmon to see if gpsd
found your PPS.
