I have the 10ec:8169 (Realtek) PCI NIC.

Using http://www.rom-o-matic.net/, I was able to create a bootable ISO,
which I used to PXE boot from. Great.

But, I don't want to use a USB drive on all my machines (100). I'd like to
burn gPXE image into the NIC ROM.

I found this site on realtek:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=4&Level=5&Conn=4&ProdID=8&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true

to a USB drive with freedos, I was able to run some of the DOS apps. DOS
Diagnostic program (RSET8169) for example identified my card fine, showed
the status of card, diagnostics, etc.

I also downloaded "PXE ROM code":
ftp://WebUser:7p5x...@61.56.69.19/cn/nic/RTGBPXE.172B.zip
The PATCH directory in there contains an EXE called RTPATCH.EXE. The file
NIC.TXT say, "This file (NIC.TXT) contains info. that helps you
patch 'RTGBPXE.NIC'(v1.01) file into your own Boot ROM driver"

I'm I headed down the right path here?

Should I execute:
RTPATCH RTGBPXE.NIC NIC.TXT gpxe-1.0.1-10ec8169.nic (Do I have to
rename gpxe-1.0.1-10ec8169.rom to gpxe-1.0.1-10ec8169.nic, similar to the
Intel instructions?)

I did run the command and got a 'patched' gpxe-1.0.1-10ec8169.nic? Now what?

Essentially, does anyone know if it is possible to burn gPXE onto the
Realtek 8169 ROM?

Thanks,
Eric
