Hi Vashek,
thanks for your message !
My bad: I missed that there is already a GRASS GIS community on Zenodo.
I will reach out to Pietro to join the community.
Best & happy holidays,
Peter

Hi Peter,
There is already a GRASS GIS community on Zenodo:
Pietro Zambelli is the current maintainer. Can you take a lead on this and ask Pietro to share or transfer the management to you and another active project representative?
Thank you,
Vashek

Hello GRASS GIS PSC,
I would like to propose that the GRASS GISp roject registers itself as a "community" in Zenodo.
Zenodo (https://zenodo.org/) is a long term open acess repository (being open source, non-commercial and friendly), which is already used by GRASS GIS and many other OSGeo projects for digital long term preservation of their code releases and to obtain DOI for FAIR due credit by scientific citation.
The innovative GMT project community has already registered as a Zenodo community. This allows them to have an overview of all things "GMT" preserved in Zenodo:
https://zenodo.org/communities/generic-mapping-tools/records
Once a GRASS GIS community group has been registered in Zenodo, we will be able to gain an overview of all GRASS GIS-related deposits in Zenodo, including software releases, but also data sets (e.g. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.13370131), presentations, publications, etc. which are not available via GitHub.
Details about the Zenodo community set-up process here: https://help.zenodo.org/docs/communities/
Should the PSC decide to register an Zenodo community group for GRASS GIS, we can appoint volunteers taking on different roles in the curation process in a next step (Reader, Curator, Manager, Owner).
Zenodo showcases community groups visibly on their website as "featured communities". This can provide heightened visibility for the GRASS GIS community.
Best,
Peter
