i like all the ideas!

i do not have any specific application in mind, but just because you
are collecting slider variation wishes:

– a multislider could be useful
the user can set a number of sliders to be combined in one multislider
component. in the UI you can set the values moving the cursor throught
the rows (or colums). the multislider outputs a list with "index of
slider" followed by the values.
