once I run the v.digit command it makes a new map and then it shows this

It means that an error occurred while v.digit was running. Usually,
after that error the vector map is not created correctly. That's why
you get those other warnings below.
Maybe, someone in the list could help and you if you explain what you
tried with v.digit.
i also tried to use r.to.vect but i got this message
r.to.vect
WARNING: coor files of vector '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' is larger than it
should be (14 bytes excess).
WARNING: Cannot display areas, topology not available
