When I synchronize my scripts among several machines, I have to
install each modified script, which is really annoying.

Automatic update checking is coming out Real Soon Now, so this will be a
generally less painful solution.  (Assuming your scripts are hosted
somewhere, and installed from there.)

Don't do that.  That's only likely to result in breakage and pain.
