Forum For Science And Development invitation for a Seminar

Dear Sir/Madam,

The last decade has seen a booming IT/ITES industry in the country, with
Bangalore as its leading centre. It is well known that this sector has
grown at breathtaking rates in exports and employment. IT/ITES industry is
now a significant part of Indian Industry and Economy. Governments at
Centre and States consider IT as the engine of growth of Industry and
Economy, and have given it top priority. It is claimed that India can
become a Superpower in IT, because it has natural advantages for the
emerging 'Knowledge-based industries'. Of course, many contest this
opinion.

What is the real contribution of IT Industry to Indian Industry and
Development? What are its strengths? What are its weaknesses? AND will the
Boom continue? How does the SOCIETY AS A WHOLE, benefit from it? These are
some questions that ought to be examined. The Forum for Science and
Development is hence organizing a seminar on the topic: "IT in India: A
Social Audit".

Eminent experts from the industry, academic institutions and social
activists have agreed to speak in the seminar and we look forward to
participation from a wide cross section of the citizens of Bangalore. The
Forum invites, scientists, technologists, IT professionals, teachers,
students and citizens, belonging to all walks of life to join and
contribute to this debate.
We consider it a privilege to invite you to the seminar and take part in
its proceedings.
