While the verdict is welcome in as much as the court guards against
every kind of probable constraints in immediately filing complaint, no
less  important was the need of positively encouraging the
victims/relatives to overcome the social taboos in speaking out; this
needs  to be stressed in unequivocal terms( rather than virtually
lending legitimation or justification for such attitudes on the part
of victims or relatives- it is not that such thing has happened in
this case)
In my earlier mail, actually I had not gone through the quoted  text from the judgment. On a second thoght ,I read it and invariably found what could be expected. please see the special concern for dignity and honour ,many often lavishly displayed and reserved only for aristocratic families & not to be mistaken that such favour will be available for women,or sections /class of people particularly while they do not keep to the norms of patriarchal-monogamous-heterosexual set up.Neverthless victims of rape are more "from the other" India. Think of the verdict in Banwaridevi case ,where the court even was pleased to exhonorate the culprits of upper caste background applying a  logic of probability of respectable men to gang - rape a women of low birth.
