*PRESS INVITE* *Public Meeting* *on* "*State, War against terror and Communal Witch-hunting*" The last few years have seen various state police departments across the country vying with each other to arrest, illegally detain and even abduct Muslim youth without a shred of evidence of their involvement in terrorist activities. In most cases, the police have been at a loss to produce any substantial evidence, except for forced confessions extracted in police custody. The case of the Malegaon blasts accused, Talha Amir and countless others is testimony to this. But it seems the catch all phrase of 'war against terror' can be used to justify such witch hunt and brazen violation of citizens' civil rights. * * * * *Jamia Teachers' Solidarity Group (JTSG) and Association for the Protection of Civil Rights (APCR)* invite you to a public Meeting on "State, War against terror and Communal Witch-hunting" *at Edward Said Hall,* *Jamia Millia Islamia, 3.00 pm onwards, 30 January 2009 (Friday)*.
