To a casual observer, the celebration that was going on would appear as if the results of the central election were declared with the victorious Prime Minister claiming the due position. But like Alice who slipped down the rabbit hole and reached a wholly unknown place, the BJP headquarter also resembled a Mad Tea Party. [image: ModiWinsAdvaniLoses]<http://www.truthofgujarat.com/absurdity-redefined-republic-bjp/modiwinsadvaniloses/>And then a group of 11 members of the Parliamentary Board made the declaration of the Prime Minister ‘for the party, of the party and by the party’. Lost in their own Republic of BJP, no body asked the group of 11 – what authority did they have under the Constitution of the party to speak for or decide for the entire Party since that was a function wholly reserved for the National Council. Be that as it may, through all it’s madness one message came out quite clearly, that it was not only Modi that was getting anointed as the main leader of the party but it was also a crisp farewell for LK Advani. In fact, the manner in which Parliamentary Board meeting was conducted, it was very clear that the present leadership of BJP had planned a harsh exit for Advani. If he had come to the board, the rest would have over-ruled him and if he did not which he didn’t he would be made to look like a weak sulking octogenarian. Either way it was the end of the road for Advani in BJP and it was definitely the Macho Modi’s day. We may ask as to why the party had scripted such a harsh exit for Advani. To answer this riddle, perhaps we have to look into the relationships of RSS and BJP since the inception of BJP. The party under the leadership of Atal Behari Vajpayee and his soft Hindutva never really made any political breakthrough. It was only Advani with his diabolical Babri Masjid campaign and the bloody Rath Yatra pushed the political fortunes of the party from 2 seats to 182 seats. It was entirely the hardcore communal line of Advani that brought BJP to power, albeit by the way of a coalition. The period between 1999-2004 which should have been a glorious period for the Hindutva forces however turned out to be quite a damp squib and the VHP-RSS Ram Janmabhoomi Movement suffered miserably. Strangely it was the Government led by Atal Behari Vajpayee that used the State power to bar the construction of the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple and by 2002 had even barred the Sheela Poojan. The people believed that it was Atal Behari who was taking these decisions purportedly because of his secular credentials. However, it was really LK Advani as the Home Minister who was taking not only the decisions to stop the Ram Janmabhoomi Movement, but he was doing so quite openly. The reason for such a move on the part of Advani was primarily because he was making peace with his NDA allies like JDU, BJD etc who still cling to their secular identity and Muslim votes. The wily Advani had realized that post 2004, if BJP was to retain power, they could do so only with the help of their NDA allies. By 2002 the relation between BJP and RSS had hit an all time low, but just then Godhra happened and a new star was born in this saffron sky of Gujarat. RSS which always wanted to be the primary mover of all political, socio-political movements had been sidelined since quite sometime but with the rise of the Hindutva forces in Gujarat, they once again became active through people like Pravin Togadia etc. The 2004 election however saw BJP lose out and the immediate task thereafter for Advani was to keep his flock together in order to have a sizeable NDA to contest the 2009 election. Advani who was going round with a hardcore Hindutva image due to his Babri Masjid campaign had realized that he needed to change this image if he had to lead the coalition of parties led by Nitish Kumar, George Fernandes, Naidu etc so despite Gujarat happening and Advani supporting Modi for his inaction in 2002, he wanted to tell the world that he also was secular in content. Thats where he made the fatal blunder of revealing his secular thoughts at the mazar of Jinnah in Pakistan in 2005. RSS was aghast and that was the point of departure. One one hand RSS was smarting from the failure of the Ram Mandir Movement and on the other hand had lost control over BJP because of the immense stature of Advani who the BJP cadre saw the prime architect of BJP. It was at that point of time that RSS made the choice of supporting Modi and getting rid of Advani and reclaiming back their political outfit i.e. BJP. The first attack on Advani was made was in 2009, just before the Central Election, when Modi was named as Prime Ministerial candidate by Anil Ambani in presence of the entire corporate world of India. We have already written about this issue Advani vs Modi- An Inner Party Struggle or Clash of Ambitions?<http://www.truthofgujarat.com/advani-vs-modi-inner-party-struggle-clash-ambitions/>. After the failure of NDA in 2009, Modi-RSS combine went full steam to grab the leadership of BJP which they finally succeeded on 13th September 2013. As we have also pointed out in our earlier article, the shift from Advani to Modi is not just cosmetic but BJP goes back to its roots and fundamentals with RSS already making conditions for a new Republic. -- Peace Is Doable -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Green Youth Movement" group.
