In reaction to the protests against the Sangh Parivar on the murder of Mohammad Akhlaq in Dadri, for consuming beef, the Sanghis in Kerala are organising a pork festival. The argument against beef becomes an argument for pork for the Sanghis. Now, how does the vegetarian sanghis respond to this? Secondly, no Muslim has demanded so far to ban pork. The Sanghis assume that the anti-beef attitude can bring down the Muslims. But in reality, it is against the food habits of a large section of Dalits, Muslims, Christians, Adivasis and many other groups including upper caste Hindus and atheists. The assumption that the consumption of beef is a violation of Hindu sensitivities is an assertion that the Dalits in this country are not Hindus, since they consume beef. By taking the beef debate at a national level, the Sangh Parivar is digging their own grave by splitting the Hindus, and not a riot between Hindus and Muslims as per their prediction. So my dear Nagpur, please rethink on your strategies!
And now, here comes Vellappalli, the self acclaimed representative of the Ezhava community in Kerala, trying to build a political party by wooing BJP’s support. This opportunist character has already started shouting `BJP Zindabad and the rest Moordabad’ on top of his voice, thinking that the BJP support in Kerala will help him to create an account of seats in the coming elections. But BJP as a party itself doesn’t have an account in Kerala’s politics. And RSS in Nagpur has rightly warned the BJP in Kerala that this character will become a liability rather than an asset. However, it is time that Vellappalli explains his position publicly on one simple thing. What is his position on the murder of Mohammad Akhlaq and the Sanghi campaign against beef consumption. By explaining his position, he must remember that the Ezhavas in Kerala love beef curry. The question whether Vellappalli will violate the food rights of the Ezhavas, becomes a matter for the Ezhava community in Kerlala to think about. Further, Vellappali’s organisation SNDP worships Sree Narayana Guru, the spiritual leader and social reformer in Kerala coming from the Ezhava community, who is still remembered for his famous utterance: `One Caste, One Religion and One God for Human beings.’ Though Guru came from the Ezhava community, he did not mean `Ezhava community’ when he said `One Caste’. It meant humanity. Guru questioned idol worship in Kerala and created a temple with a mirror in place of an idol inside. This was a deep surrealistic and philosophical statement for all those who can think and reflect. But under Vellappalli, only idols of Guru have been created in Kerala, without looking into the meanings of his words. Before Vellappalli enters the elections, it may be wise for him to look into a mirror and reflect a little bit about himself.
