To echo Élie's advice, yes, that is essentially what I do as well. In my case
is it:
{\it Missa VIII: De Angelis \hfill XV-XVI. s.}\\
\setfirstlineaboveinitial{\small \textsc{\textbf{V}}}{\small
\textsc{\textbf{V}}}
\includescore{chants/KyrieVIII.tex}
Which puts a line just above the Kyrie. The "Missa VIII: De Angelis" is left
justified and the "XV-XVI. s." is right justified.
I suppose I could have overridden/redefined the \commentary macro to this, I
suppose, but I am too lazy and it is only one line in any case, so it would not
save me much.
If you did want to redefine it, then somewhere in the preamble define the
behavior you want:
\renewcommand{\commentary}[2]{{\it #1 \hfill #2}}
And then use it:
\commentary{Missa VIII: De Angelis}{XV-XVI. s.}\\
\setfirstlineaboveinitial{\small \textsc{\textbf{V}}}{\small
\textsc{\textbf{V}}}
\includescore{chants/KyrieVIII.tex}
