I certainly don't mind, but then again, I am in no authority to agree or
disagree. I was just playing with the conversion to see if I would
yield a better result.

It looks like, Joerg Hudelmaier has released the Cardine font under the
SIL Open Font License (see the cardine.mf file). Basically, it says:

The OFL allows the licensed fonts to be used, studied, modified and
redistributed freely as long as they are not sold by themselves. The
fonts, including any derivative works, can be bundled, embedded,
redistributed and sold with any software provided that the font names of
derivative works are changed. The fonts and derivatives, however, cannot
be released under any other type of license.

I think as long as you rename the font and release it under the OFL, you
are free, from a legal point of view, to modify the font.

Getting back to the conversion, since the punctum is made invisible
using the "penx10" method (which I hadn't noticed; thanks for seeing
it), clearly, the "mag150" method is better. However, there are other
magnification factors that can be used, so if you intend to modify the
pfa or ttf font rather than the mf font, there should be an agreement as
to which factor to use as a basis for your changes so that you don't
need to make them again should the decision not be in favor of my
admittedly random choice of 150. Maybe Elie and/or some other more
artistically-minded persons than myself might chime in?

Regards,
Henry
