Thank You Henry!

though the kpsewhich command only gave one version of gregoriotex, I 
uninstalled the package manager's version of gregorio and gregoriotex, built 
the svn version using the -b flag, and installed those new packages (version 
2.3-1) and now the font changes work and there is no error message or any extra 
numbers from gregoriotexapiversion.
