So, I am away from my computer for the day, but here is a bit of a
conundrum for me. Does luatex require a file to be written in TeX, not
LaTeX? I tried to begin these tests this morning before having to run to a
meeting, but it did not recognize \documentclass{article}, which made me
realize I was writing in LaTeX. If so, do I need to look up TeX syntax?

I can also tell you that, as far as I can tell, I removed the 2014
directory per suggestions above.
