My concern, though, is more about the validity of the syntax "()" and its behavior. My question is: Is such a pair of blank-brackets 1) a valid syntax with defined behavior as part of the abc language itself, or 2) not a defined syntax but accepted & rendered by a specific implementation of gabc compiler/interpreter? To me, case 1) guarantees the consistence of its behavior, then I feel no urgency to modify my source files; but case 2) is very different. The main difference between 2ab. {E}c(ehg) and 2ab.() Ec(ehg) is that in the second case, a line break can occur after "2ab.", which is certainly not what you want. It will also change the spacings into something you might not want. I think it's best to use the first form, but the second is not "dangerous", it's just different in some edge cases.
