Indeed, I built it as a transitional package from pdflatex (in which one
must use inputenc) to lualatex (where it's useless). When it was
created, \usepackage[utf8]{luainputenc} was doing nothing under
lualatex, but it seems that due to complex changes in other packages,
it's now doing something, and doing something bad in most cases. So yes,
\usepackage[utf8]{luainputenc} should definitely go away.
