I am vehemently opposed to this so-called patch. In one hit you will have rendered twenty years of my documents, and the programs I use to produce them, unworkable. And all because you have failed to read the documentation that comes with every groff installation.

While I applaud the enthusiasm that newcomers bring to this list it deeply disturbs me when they find fault with groff that arises because they do not do any research into why such "fault" occurs.

I realize that man pages and info documents are not always the easiest material to read but, for $DIETY's sake, the info page even has a pretty little line-drawing image that shows the relationships between the various components that go into the sizing of a page.

I have been using groff with A4 paper, and sometimes with other A and B sizes, since I first started using groff.

My apologies to the list for the intemperance of my language, but this has to stop.
