Hi, Whenever I receive an email, Growl Mail displays a notification, as it should. But now that I've installed Little Snitch, I see that each time before the notification Growl actually *opens* the full email and downloads all the images/embedded content from the Internet.
I'm afraid this could be a security risk; I have my Mail set NOT to display remote images in HTML messages precisely because I don't want to download images from mail that could be spam or undesirable. (I know viruses have been able to be embedded in PDF files and images, though perhaps less so for Mac; and I've heard that spammers will use stats on access to web-hosted images to determine whether the recipient's email address is valid.) Would it be possible for Growl Mail to function a bit differently, i.e. just pull the requested information (subject, sender, whatever) without silently downloading images etc.? Or at least to honor the Mail.app viewing setting "Display remote images in HTML messages," if the user has not checked that box? It never occurred to me that Growl Mail was silently downloading images regardless of that checkbox until now. Thanks!
