We accepted donations for a very long time. They never covered what we want
to do.

Let me put it this way. The first time we put Growl as a binary download on
google code hosting, we ate through ALL of google code hosting allocated
bandwidth. They have since addressed the issue, but to be quite honest the
app store is a better set up, just for that alone.

We're not switching off of the app store. It is our binary distribution
method going forward. We're pretty happy with what Apple is offering with
regards to a whole lot on the app store.
