I too have no Growl service since updating to the new version through
the app store.  History shows no activity and none of the tricks
described here help at all.
Suggesting that software vendors fix their product so the new Growl
will work right seems a little silly.  After all, Growl was working
just fine before it was "improved" and we all payed $1.99.
The onus is on Growl.  Come on and fix it.
