I installed this for the first time a few days ago from the app store, and didn't try adding any plugins besides MailMeToo (which wasn't installed because it's incompatible with 2.x) and NMA. So the plugins dir only had a subdir for MailMeToo and NMA; I've just deleted the former. Then I reinstalled Growl as per your instructions and the problem persists.
