Well, for me (using Linux) compiling and installing works just as
described in the manual on a Pentium III (or the like). Other users
may prefer using MS Windows. For MS Windows, download the binaries,
unzip/install them, and execute them in a command window. Compiling
is only necessary if you want a newer version than the binary version
on the web; it also requires a C compiler (cygwin).

I'm not willing to teach you about the `DOS prompt', search paths
to executables and so on, here.
