You didn't answer the question about the -devel package, though. What does this return?
$ rpm -qa | grep openssl

Other than that, you can send /home/globus/SRC/gt4.2.0-all-source- installer/source-trees-thr/gsi/openssl/source/config.log

Hi,

Please double check if you have this required package:
- Openssl 0.9.7 or later. For linux systems, this includes the - devel version of the package.

Dear gt-users,

I am trying to install GT4.2.0 in FC9 distribution. I am not able to perform the "make" action correctly since it is stopped withthe following error:

configure: error: Unable to compile with SSL
make: *** [globus_system_openssl-thr] Error 1

I attach the whole logs from the make step
